If we surrendered to Earth’s intelligence
we could rise up rooted, like trees
— RAINER MARIA RILKE

Dear Friends

Are you ready to rise up rooted?

Spring is coming and our next Hedge School series responds to Imbolc the cross-quarter celebration of the Celtic Wisdom Tradition. The word Imbolc means literally "in the belly", or "first milk" in the old Irish Neolithic language, referring to the pregnancy of ewes.

Imbolc marks the Quickening.

This is a time of emergence and possibility.

New life beckons as sap surges and the first green shoots of Earth awaken.

At the Hedge School we will celebrate this point of seasonal and psychic transformation and explore the potency of renewal, hidden potential and creative life-force stirrings. As the great wheel turns we are invited to meet the fire in our bellies and our collective fires of transformation. As we cross this threshold we will explore what wants to emerge for us at The Hedge School as individuals and as a collective of global citizens. Our inspiration for the Imbolc Hedge School weaves the cultural threads of belonging, place, activism, creative imagination, indigenous wisdom and the living world. We will explore these themes from Irish and global perspectives as some of the burning issues on our world stage right now.

Our Imbolc Spiral starts in Ireland with Pádraig Ó Tuama {Poet, Theologian and Mediator} who will share the power of language, words and story as tools in conflict resolution. He will be joined by Emma Langford {Musician, Singer, Songwriter}. See a clip of her below performing ‘Birdsong’.

Then we travel to Australia to meet Irish born cultural activist Áine Tyrrell {Australian based Singer,Songwriter}and Auntie Delta Kay, {Arakwal Bumberbin, Bundjalung Woman, Mother, Grandmother, passionate sharer of Culture and protector of Country}. Together they will weave the songlines and storylines of Irish and Aboriginal Root Cultures from the ancient limestone rocks of Country Clare to the red dirt roads of 60,000 years of Indigenous culture in Australia.

Our final destination is India where we meet Manish Jain {social entrepreneur, writer, thinker and founder of the Unschooling movement in India}. He will share his journey of reimagining education from factory-schooling to co-creative diverse learning spaces, processes and knowledge systems. He will be joined by Zeenie Summers SÀ.Rù.Mí {Yoruba-Irish soul- pop artist}

We hope you can join us for this very special Imbolc Spiral.
