the art of collaboration
with galway city & county arts offices

The Art of Collaboration Hedge School Series was created by The Trailblazery and the Living Wholeness Institute in partnership with Galway City and County Arts Offices

In March 2021 we designed and led a three-part series in collaboration with Sharon O’ Grady and James Harrald at Galway City & County Arts Offices. We explored ideas about creating meaningful artistic engagements and shaping the future of collaboration in Galway on the west coast of Ireland. This involved hosting a 3-part conversation with artists and cultural producers living and working in Galway City and County.

Thank you to all of the artists, creatives and culture makers who traveled with us and to our inspiring ‘artists-in-residenceRuth Smith { Singer, songwriter, musician,}, Fergal Scahill {Multi-instrumentalist, We Banjo 3}, Joe Caslin (Street artist, illustrator, art teacher and activist), Ceara Conway { Artist, musician} and Erin Quinn { EQ Factories Perfumes, olfactory artist}.

The participate sessions focused on themes like ‘Exploring our Relationship to Creativity and Collaboration in Galway’, ‘Reimagining our Collaborative Landscape’and ‘New possibilities, new stories & new beginnings for our Community & County

This was the first time that the Hedge School engaged in collaborative partnership and we look forward to many more.

The pedagogy of the Hedge School blends inspiration, information and inquiry

Inspiration is brought to participants by leading edge guides, people who share stories, practices and ideas that open horizons and new possibilities.  Information is shared on why and how collaboration can invite new artistic and cultural expressions, strengthen community and create sustainability and resilience for everyone.  Inquiry between participants around important questions is at the heart of the Hedge School experience so that together, we can discover new meaning, collective intelligence and generative solutions.  This blend of inspiration, information and inquiry creates the conditions where participants foster and generate healthy collaboration and community, together.

Hedge School is a virtual home school rooted in Ireland that invites people on a collective learning experience to find our shared humanity and resource our possibility as global citizens. We have developed a global learning community where people around the world can find, share and generate connection, culture, ideas, practices, resources, wellbeing and meaning making for our emerging future. We co-create the spaces where people gather to make sense of complexity and have conversations that matter. Such conversations will lead us to wise action and impact how we lead our lives, communities and organizations forward and into the future.
